Originally designated the MS class and supplied to the Uganda Railway in 1913-4. They were used on branch line passenger trains with an auxiliary water tender to work Nairobi-Nanyuki and Kisumu-Butere. They were scheduled for replacement in 1939 but were reprieved by the onset of the Second World War. 393 is on permanent display in Nairobi's Jamhuri Park.
